Microtech will only be useful if more mods are added, just he ecu alone want do much, Spose if its there at the start mods can be added and tuned accordingly, Let me know if you want them. Cheers Steve

What they both said, after spending say $1000 on the ECU and then $500 on tuning then you could have done alot of other shizzle that would make more gains on your car then a microtech would. Also it'd be legal with stock ECU.

im not particularly interested in power gains at this time i just want to get this engine in and running. if i get a microtech i think its going to be soo much easier to install and it should come with a standard tune so the car can be driven. what i dont know is how do i plug it all on to the engine when my engine has absolutely no loom. i would rather get a complete stock ecu but finding one of those and the correct one is going to be a pain in the butt. i have got an ecu but when i got it the guy said he doesnt know if it works. most people i have talked to say that microtech is the way to go.

microtech requires install then hours of tuning. Youll pay a shyteload for that setup and wont see any power gains from a stock ecu... i would just find out what it was supposed to use and find the ecu and loom for it. I may have access to a 4age loom and ecu from an Aus spec corolla. Not sure if thats a bigport or not...
I can contact the owner to see if he would sell it

Well i have a JDM RWD complete loom and ecu ready to go, shall we say $350, purely cause i dont know wat there really worth.
Dont forget a basic tune from microtech want be anygood in the long term, will still need to get it tuned properly, there goes $400 odd.
Although certain people on this forum have the ability to do it for much less?
Cheers

ok so i decide it will be cheaper to put in a stock ecu and fkn16v if this ecu and loom is the correct one then i will consider it depending on how much money i have. the situation i am in is that i have have an engine and gear box wich i got dirt cheap and an ecu which the guy gave me but said he didnt know if it worked (the ecu) and no loom. if it works then great if it doesnt i need new one. as far as i am aware the engine has not been started for like 2yrs but everything still moves inside. has black and blue writing. and aparently it came from japan which was in a sprinter half cut. so now i dont know what loom will be compatable. apparently there are like 3 diff types of looms.
