D1 - The end of the hachiroku?
Is the end of the D1 AE86 near ? With Ueo Katsuhiro being busted for competing with his car in another series and other AE86 teams movng up to higher power vehicles to compete within the ever increasing power game that is D1, It seems that the little battler hachiroku has been forced out by its big power brothers.
After a surprise move by many former AE86 teams there seems to be only 3 main teams running AE86's for this event.
Here is the line up of all the former AE86 Drivers participating in D1GP Round 1 on Feb. 27 D1 Grand Prix:
(Yellow Up Garage AE86) Maeda Ken will now be driving a RX7. The former yellow AE86 turbo 20v driven by ken maeda has been unfortunately retired by UP GARAGE. Both yellow hachirokus supported by the team have been put to rest. No news of a new upgarage team as of yet.
(Autobacs Black Levin AE86) Terasaki Gen will now be driving a Honda S2000 by Expert OZ and GT Works. The RunFree kitted TE37 wearing levin hatch will no longer be.
(Panda Trueno hatchback AE86 / Maroon Levin Coupe AE86) Kamimoto Hiroshii will be drving a S-15 sponsored by Veilside.
The continuing AE86 drivers for this D1 event will be:
Hideo Hiraoka - Invidia Blue AE86 Trueno Coupe
Yoshioka Toshiki - Droop White/Pink AE86 Trueno Hatchback
Hibino - Cream / Maroon AE86 Levin Coupe
Ueo Katsuhiro won't be participating due to a complete 2005 season ban.
As for why Ueo was banned, D1 committee blocked his participation in the this years season because of something to do with sponsorship conflicts and getting involved in other races (GTP type race) using his D1 spec Trueno hatchback which is forbiden by D1 officials.
Ill post more information as the season comes to head!
What Controversy!!
