>Im hoping someone can loan me an SR20DET alternator for a >few days till mine gets rebuilt. I need the car everyday for work. >(Ill find out tomorrow how long ill need to leave it, or if theres >an exchange unit available) >Please if you have a car off the road, or can loan one for 4-5 >days it would be greatly appreciated. This was the post i made about 2 weeks ago. In this time noone was able to find a new non genuine one of these for me. As an OEM unit they are $1300. I dont know if anyone else thinks this is a bit of a rip off.... the difficult (and cheaper) path is measuring all the dimensions and mounting points and finding something aftermarket. Just a thought on 2nd hand alternators... After pricing these at wreckers for around $200. Its worth keeping in mind that anything from a wrecker would be about the same age, or older than what your replacing, and possibly have the same problem soon after. With that said, in case anyone needs one in the future, Charlestown Auto Electrics finally found be a replacement that should fit, and got an overnight courier. Its a hitachi unit (RX029, A702 front bracket?)off a nissan cerano... New price of this is $420 - which is still more than a GM unit, but not extortion like the Nissan OEM one. Anyway, the measurements that you need are: Front on - bottom mount hole centre to top mount hole centre = 164mm Distance between lower bracket points 80-81mm (bracket is 80mm)
