It won't affect you but go and get the black lincence anyway. This new legislation won't change the road toll. It is a waist of time

Does not apply to.... existing provisional licence holders.... unless disqualified for serious driving offence on or after 11th July. Everyone is fine they just have to be good...
NSW RTA succz, they are weird. Instead of becoming slightly more linient to bring driving governing bodies of all states into union, they become a hell of alot more tightass.
And in order to enforce this new law means there are gunna be cops everywhere pulling anyone over with a p plate all the time to check when they got their p's and to scrutenize the car.

I think it's a good idea, it's definitely short of what they should be doing ie reviewing the lisencing system so it's more akin to the motorbike system, so people who can't drive with any great level of skill don't and people with the wrong attitide may be spotted more easily and given some sort of correction...how i dunno but it'd beat what they have now. However keeping people with next to no experience out of faster cars is a good idea, it WILL save some lives since people will be less tempted to 'cut sik' and no one will be geeing them up for races etc. Also their margain of error will be greater when they aren't driving higher powered vehicles. Sure it's not perfect but it's a step in the right direction. Sure some people will still kill themselves and others driving stupid in normal cars but some others might just scare themselves instead of making themselves part of the landscape etc. Also it's a safe move from a govenment point of view since the group they are affecting mostly havn't got a leg to stand on when it comes to arguing the rules and is a minority anyways. Weather that is good or bad is a matter of opinion.
