just a thought, we should start a thread about peoples experiences with different types of tyres, so we know what works for grip and drift and what doesnt. Dunlop SP Sport 3000A - 235/45/17I found these to be extremely grippy. They were on the back when i had them, caused slight understeer at slower speeds. Extremely good road holding at full throttle. NOTE: I found these to be difficult to spin without clutch popping even with higher power. Thrashing required to spin. Excellent tread wear These tyres would probably suit track or high speed drift. Would need equally good tyres up front to ballance out. Falken Ziex - 235/45/17no image found These tyres dont seem to have anywhere near the road holding of the dunlops. I would recommend these as a drift only tyre as grip is fairly poor (compared to others) Good news is its a great tyre for feint and can easily be clutch popped at lower revs. lets go easily and smoothly. win win as drift rears I would NOT use these as a font tyre.... ever Eagle F1 - 235/45/17The ones i used were the old tread pattern without the reinforced shoulders. I found them to be fairly grippy with road holding close to the dunlops. Tread wear seemed to be noticably faster. The new version (pictured) has reinforced shoulders which SHOULD make these ones handle better as a front tyre than the older ones. Toyo Proxes T1-RIll be acquiring a set of these for the front in the coming months. They are the replacements for the T1-S with improved tread wear, stiffer sidewalls and reinforced shoulders. These should be an excelent front tyre.

These are teh shiznit. Kuhmo ecsta v700 Amazing grip but 50 tread wear rating lol Also the Early good year eagle f1 was a good tyre with amazing wet weather grip and even better tread wear.. Good for drift i would imagine as they aren't real grippy in the dry. Sumitomo HTZR II are very grippy and a good cheap tyre. Had these on a few cars.. Nice and not too bad on wear.

Dunlop SP Sport 3000 Had a set of these drifted on them, rubbish, slippery as buggery and fell apart fast. In fact i even suspected them of being retreads or somthing but the tread pattern matches that photo you had.
Falken Ziex, i forget which type Alot of falkens are called Zeix, the tops ones are great, lower ones are average. I had some for drifting, wore rather smooth and even, decent grip to.
Toyo Proxy T1S Got them on the back now, very grippy, good in the wet, rather like them. Will be drifting on them soon to hehe.
Michelin Pilot SX Interesting pattern, seem to be ok, am drifting with a set on the front now, slightly more understeery then previous Michelin Sport Contact but they were 17" and these are 16" so maybe it's to do with sidewall stiffness.
Federal A555 or somthing like that Worked well on the front of the car, were better then i expected, wore very smoothly as a drift tyre but if the pressures were off a bit they felt terrible, kind of mixed feelings.

Westlake - H550 (175x70x13) Tread Ply - 1 polyester, 2 steel Sidewall ply - 1 polyester Heaps of sidewall flex, and not much grip ;D I never got down to the belts, but wear was good, and didnt fall apart in the process of going bald.

Haha where can i get em Chris!! ;D I thought of somthing this arvo and went and checked all my drift tyres to see what pressures the shop puts in them. From what i've discussed with a bloke the other day i'm best to run about 30psi cold in the rears due to them heating up and raising the pressures, improves wear rates and patterns on them apparently. And you know what all the tyres were at 33-35psi cold, bar one, 61psi...WTF!! Guy at the tyre shop must have been asleep, no wonder that one tyre was slippery and fell apart....best wear on a tyre was one that was 30psi cold to.....worth looking into more. Having said that the best wearing tyre was a federal and although the one with 60psi was a SP Sport 3000 that i was bagging before the other 3 were at 35psi and still fell apart....

i have a set of bridgestone potenza g3's on my car, an excellent tyre, great wear rating have had em on my car for bout 2 years now (not drifted obviously but soon i hope ) are very good grip wise in the dry, helped me to 180km/h down mount sugarloaf and held traction into a corner at bout 110, not the best tyre in the wet but still pretty good price is only bout $160 per tyre

Okies i have used the Potenza GIII at drifting now . Grip was ok, no better or worse then most other tyres i've tried really. At 30psi (cold, goes up when drifting) and using a 225/50 R17 tyre on a car with around 3 degrees rear camber the tyre lasted an ok ammount of time but it delaminated the inside edge instead of just wearing down completely. Not the greatest tyre but not the worst either. If i was to choose a good drift tyre so far my best experiences have consistantly been on Falken Zeix ZE326. Probably better on a car with less camber, then again it might just throw the whole tread instead haha.

My GoodYear Eagle Ventura are great for grip and drift. Seems like their wear is acceptable as well. I was happy with the price i got for them @ $90 each.. usually $120 each. Ellis can back me up here with running them on the front as he did for Oran Park.

i agree with evan, for the price these are a bargain, and a good tyre. Alot better grip than ive ever had on any other tyre.. maby i should invest in some decent ones... but nice tyres, id get em if i needed new ones.

sway has a full set of the venturas for sale, to suit 14" rims. they were bought for a set of rims we dont have anymore. they were on her spritner for about 3 weeks (with a 4ac) so there was virtually no wear. 200 bucks for the lot if anyone is interested.

I got some new rims the other day, 17x9 +20 PIAAs. Got two Federal SS595 on them (215/45 R17 mmm hippari) and i've had some good experiences with that tyre before, they'll be up front, out back i'll have a pair of 225/45 R17 Bridgestone Potenza 040s. We'll see how they go .

Yeah my old car is in Wickam now, i've got a silver Silvia now, CA Q's headlights and stock body, it's in the shed right now cos i'm doing stacks to it though, it was pretty well bog stock SR K's spec when i got it, now fitted front mount, making piping for the cooler, got HKS intake for free, fitted oil cooler, bought castor rods, spacing the tie rods, new rack boots, bin the viscous LSD and put in R32 GTR LSD, axles and rear hubs, 4 pots up front, redrilled front rotors, fibreglass seat, bride rail, personal steering wheel, blitz and omori gauges, RSM, strut brace, engine damper and so on. Not to mention the rims , going to pull the gaurds to so it should look fat. I still need coilovers tho, it's got KYB struts right now which are ok though, also got to get some adjustable upper rear arms . Should be back on the road in 2 weeks i guess.
