My Brock encounter was at Eastern Creek when Evan was invited to the release of the (then) new Holden Monaro. We can't understand how Evan got an invitation to the day as the day was for Porsche Cup Drivers. Must have been fate!
My brother and I left Evan at the members lounge and decided to leave as we wouldn't get to drive. As we were walking down to the carpark at the back of the pits, a crumby Holden Commodore Executive rental pulled up in front of us and out jumped PB. I said something stupid to him like "...looks who's here.." PB walked staright up to us and said "..what are you guys doing here?" he greeted us as if he had known us for 30 years, I told him about Evan (17 yo at the time)..."OH I'll look after him, " says Brockie and he invite us to the longue, "...just go in and make yourself at home , you must watch your son drive." Far out he spoke with us for about 10 minutes. I cannot explain how great that was for us as we have been fans since his A30 days...
Later that day Evan drove Brockie around Eastern Creek flat out in the Monaro. Brock patted Evan on the back and said "..live your dream."
By the way Evan set the fastest lap against the Porsche Cup Drivers (rich ) on the slalom he was just too smooth for these ham fisted blokes...by about 1.5 seconds! Got the Video somewhere!
