found a company making these things. its brilliant.
all you need are a pair of 3" dia aluminium caps (can be threaded pipe end caps), a 4"+ length of silicon hose, pair of 3" dia hose clamps, a small piece of aluminium plate, steel wool and some threded fittings.

just clamp the ends in to the silicon hose with the baffle plate (3" wide x length of silicon hose) in the middle dividing it in half. The baffle plate needs to be drilled several times with a 8-10mm drill bit. Probably about 5-6 random holes on the bottom half of the plate.
Loosley fill the inlet side with steel wool but dont pack it down.
The sump return can be replaced with a plug but youll need to install some sort of indicator.
