Just let you know that I am biased and Evan will be embarrassed and call me rude names ...however. Evan was described by Peter Brock (yes that Peter Brock) as having "...loads of natural driving talent.." way back when he was 17. His comments to Evan were "..live your dream.." Now 4 years on and Evan has proven his skills in "Chance of a Lifetime" competition beating over 200 drivers from across Australia.
His recent Clipsal 500 meeting saw him set a time only 0.4 second slower than the more powerful Exiges. Oil and no flag marshalls resulted in damage to the Elise. It's fixed but at a cost of $4000!!
This weekend Evan races again in the Lotus 500, a three class Lotus endurance race with Class A (Exiges) Class B (Elises) and Open Class for the likes of all other Lotus cars including a red hot Turboed Exige. Evan has another drifter Mark Vicuna and an Elise driver Daniel Sihvola as their team for the 228 lap race. Evan has previously set a 1:10.3 laptime in an Elise and should be quicker than most of the Exiges as Wakefield favours handling and braking where the Elise has no peer.
Royal Drift members should support this event at Wakefield Park. It would be a good CRUISE down to Goulburn for all members on Saturday. The race starts at 2:50pm and goes until dark around 7:30pm...see you there and come support your brother drifter!
Thanks to a number of members who will be acting as pit crew for the Royal Drift team...... ;D
