I was speaking with the Secretary of the newcastle MG car club. They are close to having the go ahead for the Raymond Terrace Racing Track to be built. It is still in the land and Environment Court but is looking very positive. MG car club has $9 Million in the bank ready to build. If Royal Drift members are interested Evan and I will speak with MG Car Club to make Royal Drift Club and affiliate to the MG Car Club. The point being that the Secretary assured me that the facility will have a drift track. Even now the Gymkhanas are being run as drift days and young people are joining the club for this very reason. Please give me some feedback if you want a local drift track and if you want me to start negotiating with MG car club. DAR

This is somthing that is very important to do and do right. Getting off on the right foot with a well established motorsport club and showing that drift IS a motorsport and can be run like one is the most important thing right now. I'm not sure about this drift motorkhana thing, i have mates in the MG car club who say they tolerate oversteer but don't like if people spin or whatnot, but i've not been down to a motorkhana since last year. It sounds good to me, i was under the impression that ringwood was dead in the water, more info please.

From what i've heard so it's just hearsay. IDA asked but they had already refused a previous proposal. They didn't like the idea of perhaps damaging their circuit. So don't show anyone pics or vids of dirt dropping.

I was speaking with the Secretary of the MG car club (Greg Dickison) who assured me that they have only one sticking point with the Land and Enviornment Court...all because of someone on the Council doesn't want the track near his property apparently. Greg was very upbeat saying that the decision could be soon and it was likely that the MG carclub would win (if they don't there's lots of court costs so the project will be dead!).
All I'm proposing is that Royal Drift should speak with MG to keep its members informed and if the track goes ahead that Royal Drift become THE drift club in the Hunter with access to a proper circuit and that events could be organised under the auspices of the CAMS affiliated club.

Well its late (for me it is) and i had a thought.
Would it be beneficial for Royal Drift and the MG car club if some/all of its members became CAMS Officials to some capacity.
I think it might help to show that there is enough enthusiasm within the community clubs(ie more then 1 club) for a race track of sorts to be located within the Hunter area.
Since Oran Park will be no more in a short time, apart from Eastern Creek what else does the hunter enthusiast have "Wakefield" which is 5 hrs away.
I think Drift and GymKhanas will grow rapidly with-in the area if sensible knowledgable people organise and promote wat is a safe and sound motorsport if prepared properly.
And if built right, the track should be able to serve many functions, not just grip and drift events. Bringing money in from outside areas, which will boost economy.
Just a thought i had.
Does it make sense, i hope so.
Cheers

That's what should happen...anyone interested in talking with MG car club about affiliation, getting CAMS track and official licences? maybe Royal Drift need to get together more formally and appoint a committee. Just a thought!

When the track goes ahead i will consider trying to register royal drift as an official car club and then follow up with cams affiliation, so we can organise d-days at the track, but for now there is no use. I would like to talk to the MG car club just to get some 1st hand info about the track, location, size, circuit/s layout etc.

It would be usefull to find out what is needed to organise track days at certain tracks and so on. Can you just hire a track? Can you pay for 'day lisencing' to cover a whole club. And so on.
