the authorities will tell you that any aftermarket filter other than specified by the manufacturer is defectable, due to the possibilities of changing the emissions of the engine, but there are some loop holes in the adrs, and they state along the lines of that the air filter must be fully enclosed in a box, for it to be road legal etc its probably best to consult an engineer before you start paying for stuff to get made, if you dont care about that much just make a big ass box around your pod and run an equally big ass pipe to it ;D i wouldn't bother with a just a cover to hide it over a box or a sheild, i think a carbon cover would just look a little wanky than anything.
